Advertisement for Appointment of a Webmaster

The 黑料社 invites applications from suitably qualified and competent professionals for the post of Webmaster.

Qualified applicant will be directly responsible to the Director of ICT Services but ultimately to the Vice Chancellor through the Registrar.

Qualification/Experience

Candidates seeking appointment to this position Must:

路听听听听听听听听 possess M.Sc./M.Phil. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (Computer, Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics, etc.), Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering or other analogous qualification

路听听听听听听听听 Have one (1) year post qualification experience

OR听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听

路听听听听听听听听 Possess a first degree in any of the above-mentioned areas with professional certification in areas such as Microsoft Chartered Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Chartered Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Chartered Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)

路听听听听听听听听 Have four (4) years post qualification experience

路听听听听听听听听 Have a working knowledge of web-based programming languages preferably PhP or C++ and Linux operating systems

路听听听听听听听听 Have Knowledge of website management tools such as Drupal, Web Press, etc.

路听听听听听听听听 Have Knowledge of IT security

路听听听听听听听听 Have good collaboration skills

路听听听听听听听听 Be reliable and detail-oriented

In all cases, the applicant must have two (2) referee鈥檚 reports in support of his/her application

Job Description

路听听听听听听听听 Maintain the website for Colleges, Faculties/Schools and Departments and Directorates and other sections

路听听听听听听听听 Ensure the web servers, hardware and software are operating accurately and efficiently

路听听听听听听听听 Design websites, generate and revise web pages

路听听听听听听听听 Examine and analyse site traffic

路听听听听听听听听 Utilize scripting languages such as JavaScript php etc

路听听听听听听听听 Configure web servers such as Apache and serve as the server administrator

路听听听听听听听听 Regulate and manage access rights of different users on the University website

路听听听听听听听听 Create and modify the appearance and setting of the website

路听听听听听听听听 Lay out content on web pages

路听听听听听听听听 Deal with and respond to heavy volumes of email

路听听听听听听听听 Decide what of kind of computer will hold the website鈥檚 information

路听听听听听听听听 Test websites to see if there are any parts that are difficult to use

路听听听听听听听听 Meet regularly with designers to agree on site鈥檚 design

路听听听听听听听听 Fix links that don鈥檛 work and pictures that aren鈥檛 appearing properly

路听听听听听听听听 Decide how site鈥檚 content will be delivered to the internet

路听听听听听听听听 Keep files small so sites load faster

路听听听听听听听听 Test different browsers and ensure people with different computers can access the website

路听听听听听听听听 Any other additional responsibilities which will be communicated to you by your Director through your head听
