The 2024 Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games to be hosted by the 黑料社 has been launched at a ceremony held at the University.听
The biennial games will be held from January 3 to 18, 2025.听
The occasion was also used to unveil the logo and mascot for the games which were designed by Mrs. Laura Doku and Mr. Nathaniel Ampah of the Documentation and Information Section, Directorate of Public Affairs, UCC.
The mascot is named 鈥淥guaa Suapon听茊k蓴r蓻.鈥�
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, who unveiled the two features, commended the LOC for coming out with a听mascot and logo.听
According to him, the theme for the games, 鈥淩epositioning University Sports for National Development鈥� underscored the fact that sports play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of individuals and the entire nation.
鈥淭hrough university sports, we can create a robust framework that integrates athletic prowess with academic achievement, producing well-rounded individuals ready to contribute to the nation鈥檚 progress鈥�, he added.听
Giving details of the logo and mascot, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the mascot represented 鈥渙ur collective identity and serves as a vibrant reminder of the enthusiasm and energy that sports instil in our lives.鈥�

Prof. Boampong lauded the LOC for their hard work, creativity, and dedication to duty.

鈥満诹仙鏷as a proud history of success in these games, having triumphed multiple times. In January 2025, we are poised to make waves once again, aiming for another significant victory that will resonate throughout the country,鈥� Prof. Boampong said.
For her part, the LOC Chairperson, Prof. Rosemond Boohene, said students would have the opportunity to showcase their talents, embrace sportsmanship, and form friendships that would last far beyond the games.
