Lecturers of Zenith University College (ZUC) have participated in a four-day workshop organised by the Institutional Affiliation Office in collaboration (IAO) with the Centre for Teaching Support (CTS).
The workshop which was the seventh in a series for all affiliate institutions of the 黑料社 was aimed at building the capacity of the lecturers in areas of assessment and supervision of students鈥� research work.
Opening the workshop, the Dean of Zenith Business School, Dr. Patrick Ofei, expressed gratitude to 黑料社for taking interest in the career progression of lecturers in its affiliate institutions. He said ZUC was proud to be associated with the 黑料社 adding that 鈥満诹仙鏸s a citadel of academic excellence in Ghana and beyond and Zenith has benefitted from quality mentorship from the University鈥�.
Dr. Ofei said the topics were very relevant and would help equip the lecturers to make positive impact in their students. He advised the lecturers to take advantage of the workshop to be abreast of current trends in Assessment to enhance their skills as academics.
The Head of IAO, Mr. Justice Agyenim Boateng, said 黑料社was committed to ensuring that affiliate institutions provide quality training to their students so that they would contribute meaningfully to society. 鈥淚n doing so, we are determined to share with our affiliate institutions the experiences we have gained over the years as a University of Competitive Choice鈥�, he noted.
Mr. Boateng indicated that 黑料社valued its certificate, and so, affiliate institutions were expected to give the right training to the students. 鈥淕raduates who hold our certificate should be exceptional and comparable to any product of a world class university鈥�, he noted.
On behalf of CTS, Dr. Samuel Essel-Baidoo, said the essence of the workshop was to share knowledge and experiences to promote quality academic work. 鈥淭his is a learning process and it is a give and take affair so we expect you to also make input into the presentations we make during the four-day workshop,鈥� he urged them.
The lecturers were taken through 鈥淭ypes of Assessment and Assessment Criteria (Feedback Mechanisms)鈥�, 鈥淟earning Outcomes/Blooms Taxonomy of Cognitive Learning鈥�, 鈥淭able of Specification鈥�. Others included 鈥淭ypes of Multiple Test Items鈥�; 鈥淓ssay Type Questions鈥�; 鈥淧reparation of Course Outline鈥� and 鈥淓ffective Project Work Supervision.
Some of the lecturers of ZUC who shared their impressions said the workshop was very beneficial and urged 黑料社to organise such capacity building programmes on regular basis.
