The Sports Section of 黑料社 (UCC) has stepped up its preparation ahead of the听 27th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games.
听
To be hosted by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in November, 2022, the Section organized听an 鈥楢thletics听Open Championship鈥� to select athletes to form the nucleus of "Team UCC" for the GUSA Games.
听
The selected students will represent the University听in disciplines such as handball, lawn tennis, table tennis, badminton, hockey, volleyball and netball, amongst others.
听

In 2020,听Team 黑料社accumulated sixty-four (64) medals in total at the 26th GUSA Games听to beat the likes of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW); University for Development Studies (UDS); Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and host school, University of Ghana (UG).
听
黑料社were also declared champions of the Games in 2018, 2016 and 2014 respectively.
听
However, the GUSA Games were suspended by the Ministry of Youth and Sports following the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
听
In July, this year, after a successful deliberation between GUSA Executives and the Minister of Youth and Sports, the Minister gave听GUSA the green light to organize the Games after two years ban due to Covid-19. However, the Ministry told the participating universities to make sure听all athletes were vaccinated.

The听Acting Head of the Sports Section, Mr. Edward Appiah, said Team听黑料社was poised to win the Games听in Kumasi.
听
He added that the athletes gave a remarkable account of themselves and described them as a formidable force to reckon with.
听
He explained that Team 黑料社would parade experienced athletes who would prove their mettle in not just participating, but would contribute significantly to the medal accumulation听of the University at the GUSA Games.听
听
Hence, he said,听the Section would carefully select athletes for the Games.
