黑料社Embarks on Project 鈥淕reen Ghana Green UCC鈥

Management, staff and students of the 黑料社 in collaboration with the Forestry Commission have embarked on a tree planting exercise on the University campus. Dubbed 鈥淕reen Ghana = Green UCC鈥, the exercise is part of the Vice-Chancellor鈥檚 vision and falls in line with the Government鈥檚 Green Ghana Project. In all, fifty thousand (50,000) trees were earmarked for planting.

Addressing the planters, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, lauded the government for initiating the Green Ghana Project. He said, "with the initiative to plant 5 million trees, the Government understands and knows that our survival as a people depends on the vegetation cover and that without it, we will experience adverse environmental effects."

Prof.聽聽Nyarko Boampong also indicated that making the University green would create and promote a conducive environment for academic work.

"We are not going to plant the trees and leave them but we are going to nurture them so that the University will have a very green environment that will support teaching and learning," he added.

On her part, the Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, said that the exercise would be extended to areas affected by illegal small-scale gold mining in governments efforts to reclaim degraded lands.

Present to support the exercise were members of the senior national team the Black Stars.
